Access, use and preferences of the technologies of information and communication technologies (tic) by resident doctors of general surgery in Paraguay

Se evaluó el acceso, uso y preferencias de las tecnologías de información y comunicación (TIC) enmédicos residentes de los diferentes Servicios de Cirugía General en el Paraguay, el cuestionario exploró la disponibilidad y dominio de las TIC, el tiempo, las actividades educativas, y aplicaciones tecnológicas más usadas. Se encuestaron 79 médicos residentes de Cirugía General; 52% fueron varones, promedio de 28 años, 40% formados en la UNA. El uso de notebook fue 34%, el uso de tablet 20% y smartphone 97%; el 43% poseen internet móvil y conexión en el hogar, el 98% utiliza WhatsApp, como medio de intercambio de imágenes, datos relacionados con salud, reportes de pacientes y opinión de expertos. El 84% refieren estar conectado las 24 hs a internet, el 62% utilizan Smartphone para resolver preguntas médicas en forma diaria, 43% pocas veces profundizan esos conocimientos; 46% leen un artículo científico completo por mes, 31% miran siempre videos quirúrgicos antes de operar una cirugía; y el 94% considera que existe una relación positiva a la evolución del aprendizaje con la tecnología. El uso y acceso de las TICs es frecuente en los médicos residentes de Cirugía y existe interés positivo por su uso en educación.
We evaluated the access, use and preferences of the technologies of information and communication technologies in medical residents of the different services of General Surgery in Paraguay, the questionnaire explored the availability and mastery of ICTS, the time, the educational activities, and technology applications you use most. 79 were surveyed Resident Doctors of General Surgery; 52% were male, average of 28 years, 40% formed in the A. El use of notebook was 34%, 20% use of tablet and smartphone 97%; 43% have mobile internet and connection in the home, the 98% use WhatsApp, as a means of exchange of images, data related to health, reports of patients and expert opinion. El 84% refer to be connected the 24 hs to the internet, the 62% use Smartphone to resolve medical questions on a daily basis, 43% rarely deepen such knowledge; 46% read a full scientific article per month, 31% always look surgical videos before operating a surgery; and the 94% considered that there is a positive relationship to the evolution of the learning with technology. The access and use of ICTS is common in medical residents of Surgery and there is positive interest for its use in education.
